coral ejecting off skeleton

Ive had this for over 2 yrs. thought it was just trying to split a head but now looks like a head is ejecting off its skeleton? i rarely have any problems with my tank or coral. any suggestions to save it? possible that the entire tank could be in danger? I dont have equip for doimg my own water tesst. if u think thats my first step please let me know.
 
Is this a Coral Banded shrimp?

Also, please go out and buy a test kit, my LFS lied straight to my face. They will lie to get sales and such.
 
I had a hammer eject from it's skeleton
I used crazy glue and glued it back it's now thriving once again

I never give up on coral unless it's totally gone this was a well learned experiment with lps that went the right way
and yes invest in a test kit it will be your best friend
