Hi,

For my new 75 gallon tank I purchased a coralife fixture. It came with a 50/50 bulb. Will this work for plants or should I replace the bulb?

Thanks in advance for the input.

:D

The 50/50 will work for plants but only the white side. If you want full benefit of your new fixture you'll have to get a new bulb in 5-10k color. If you'll tell us which fixture you have we can figure out how much usable light you've got.

See if you can find a marine aquarist in your area, as they'll like those bulbs.

The actinic side does promote bushier plant growth, but as a whole it doesn't benefit teh plant as much as the white half of the bulb.

One thing I'm looking at this winter is taking my 75gal which has 4x55watt PC's,. and adding a single 48" NO actinic, sandwich'd down the middle, to enhance my fishes colors, and promote better plant growth.
