I have been researching HOB/HOT protein skimmers, and a few notable models keep being mentioned. The AquaC Remora Pro, seems to be quite popular, as quite a few people own one. Another highly regarded model is the Deltec MCE600, I have read that it is the "king" of HOB skimmers. Is this model really worth twice the price of the AquaC? Anybody here have experience with both models?

I have also read that HOB skimmers do not perform as well as in-sump skimmers, is this even true of the $545 Deltec?

I am unfortunately limited by my tank stand, a sump will not fit, so I must use a HOB skimmer. I am also looking into using a HOB refugium instead of a skimmer.

Thanks,

Jared
