I wouldn't risk it personally. Back when I had convicts, they tore anything and everything apart that they could. You could try, but close observation and a backup plan would be an absolute necessity.

Simply put No. The betta would be under extreme stress if not harrassed to death.

I'm not sure if convicts are aggressive unpaired (from the above posts I'd assume so) but yeah.. if and when they do, convicts are some of the most aggressive parents. It might be okay for awhile, but I foresee problems in a little while.
