Driftwood from the lake

I've gathered some lovely driftwood today from a nearby lake. Some of it is quite large, I'd say at least four feet long. I'm not really worried about tannins. The fish I want to keep would feel quite at home with tannins in the water, but I am worried about parasites and unsavory bacteria and things like that. Any suggestions for prepping the driftwood?

Dry in the sun, boil, dry, boil.
Repeat until you think the job is done.

You can pour boiling water over them in a big kiddie pool or such.
