I need suggestions for plastic plants that are not going to fade and then fall apart after a few years in a fresh water tank. I had plastic plants in tanks decades ago that held up very well, but recent purchases from the SAME manufacturer are fading and shedding like mad after just 3-4 years of use.
I can't think of the name of the company at the moment, but they are bought in white crinkly packages with a clear window. They are designed to look like real plants and sold in multiple sizes for realism. (Maybe Penn-Plax?)
I know not to buy the red tinged ones. I made that mistake already and had less than a year use of them before they disintegrated. I like the more delicate styles, (my mind says "hygrofila"?) but I will look at anything right now that looks real, will have enough height for a 70 gallon tank, and not fall apart in 4 years!
I am seeing a company called Marineland making plants that look remarkably like the ones falling apart in my tank right now. Is that a new company? Or a renaming of the company that made the plants that I have now? Can anyone give me some feedback on the durability of Marineland plants?
Suggestions? Brand names? (And no, I can't use real plants...I have large fancy goldfish who view real plants as a salad bar.)
Thank you for any help you can throw my way!
