I noticed my fire fish laying at the bottom of the tank. It can’t swim very well and it’s color is fading. Any ideas on what’s causing this?

There are lot of reasons, from parameters to bullying. Without more information it will be very difficult to assist you in preventing this in the future, since by the time this happens it is already too late.
