Filmy water??

I have recently started a 10gal breeder tank. just recently since I have been treating for Ich I noticed a film on the top of the water. You could look up from the side of the tank and draw your finger along the water and see a trail behind it. It looks dusty not really oily, I tried to skim the top of the water with my fish net wrapped with a nylon. Didn't work!

So, has anybody else had this and how would I clean it up? I am using a whisper in tank filter.

It could be a buildup of calcium or proteins. Filter floss and charcoal will help remove it.

Agree with Bill, I have occasionally run into the same thing. I can attribute mine to having my arms in the tank too much I think. Oils from skin and all. Filter floss works great for me.

Thanks, I did put the carbon back into the filter now that I am done with the meds and it cleared right out.
