Fluffy black stuff?

There is some fluffy black stuff growing on my wood. I’ve never had this happen before and just noticed it. I boiled my wood when I got it as well. It has been in my tank for weeks now. The only new thing that has happened was that I added aquarium substrate. Help someone?

I don't know a lot about wood in aquariums, but I want to help. I think it could be fungi... If it is, the most advisable thing to do is to take wood out of the aquarium immediately since it could harm your fish. Best wishes!

How would you recommend going about that? I superglued plants onto the wood and I don’t want to loose a ton of money because of them dying when I take the wood out. I was looking at it some people say it looks like black beard alage. Do you think I should get some shrimp or a Siamese alage eater for it? For the moment I have turned off the tank light completely and will end up blacking the tank out for a few days as well.

Thank you. Do you think I can use my tank syphon and syphon it out while I do a water change? Or should I not? I have other tanks that I don’t want this to spread to that I use the same syphon on.

I'm so sorry, due to my limited knowledge I don't know if it's going to harm your fish or not. Good luck! I hope it's just algae and pray so you can get rid of it fast

P.S. I wouldn't recommend using the syphon, I think you can do another kind of treatment as well.
