I have recently discover that there are freshwater stingrays and I have a few questions about them.

How big do they get

What's the smallest prettiest species

How big of a tank should I keep a single one in

what are some good tank mates for the stingrays.

And are they legal to keep in California

P.S. I don't plan on getting FW Rays any time soon but just wanted to know

Also a few more question

From a scale of 1 to 10 how hard are they to take care of

And What do they eat

I live in England and when my lfs had some o looked into this. They eat fish and invertebrates so unless your talking big fish such as oscars I wouldn't put them in same tank. Have to be fed daily to accommodate their metabolism. I know they can grow up to a meter plate but never could find much of a species guide and size guide from that sorry

Motoro Rays get I think close to 20 inch diameter. Need a tank of 150+ gallons because of their size unless you can find a very wide tank and that would likely need to be custom.

As stated they eat live foods and a protein meaty diet.

My LFS has Motoro's and I love them but I can't afford a tank that big to take care of a full size one.

The ones I've seen are kept with sand substrate. Being rays, gravel would cut them up.

I can't remember how messy they were but weekly water changes is definitely recommended.
