? glass catfish

Well I now have one remaining glass catfish so I need to get a few more to keep the one I have company. She(?) has a rather large belly and takes live worms from my finger...in fact if I'm just arranging my floating plants she'll nip at my finger without a worm there. She also has gotten more territorial the last 2 weeks. I'm just wondering what is up with her. Could she possibly have eggs or do they all have rounded belly's when they get bigger. She's about 2 1/2 inches long. Any ideas?

What happened to the other(s)?

From what I've read they seem very difficult to breed in the casual aquarium and often times the protruding belly is from overfeeding, parasites or bacterial infections.

Hopefully not in your case, but definitely keep an eye on it. I've never had any of mine get swollen like that, so it would be interesting to see.

More than likely its a female because a lot of fish are sexed by the roundness of their bellys, or she may have eggs
