Heater Placement

Most people place heaters in the return area simply due to space constraints. Not sure how much room you have in each chamber of your sump though.

Yes, you should place the heater(s) where they will have the most flow either near the intake or the return.
 
Place it in the sump. Or just put it anywhere in the tank where it doesn't look ugly.

My filter output is on the left, and heater is on the right side, and the right side is not more hot than the left one.

So if I place it in the left corner opposite of my filter it won't matter?

I do want it opposite of my thermometer right?

For sure if the thermometer is a digital one that use submerged probe, you don't want the probe to be ON or too near the heater, or it will affect the real data.

It's normal for heater to have a little heat aura near it.

If it's a stick you put on glass, it doesn't matter.
