How hot is too hot for a tank...?

I just aquired a 12 gallon tank. I have it for work. The heater that came with the tank has 2 setting 76 and 82... I have it on 82, is it too high?

I have the smallest Rio in there and a HOB filter.. Thinking on adding another PH... IT's a open top as well...

I try to keep my tank at 82.

I love my tank @ work...
It was reading around 82 or 83 so i got a new heater from the LFS. Was a freebie a titianum 100w heater.... So I feel alot better. He seems to think a bubble tip and a sebae will be ok in there... I can get both CHEAP... I may try it...
