how would YOU! stock a 55 gallon?!

Definitely looking at a community setup. But as you said, unless I were doing a community, I'd go with Africans any day. BUT LET'S FOCUS ON A COMMUNITY

So far I'm thinking:
-12 neon tetra
-8 corydoras
-8 marble hatchets
-6 Australian rainbow fish
-kuli loaches, but not sure how many, suggestions?
-2 clown pleco
-suggestions as for what else?

I have 5 in my 55 but from my understanding you can get away with a lot more

A pair of kribs
5 julli corries
5 sterbai cories
A clown pleco
7 marbled hatchet fish
And a TON of live plants

(Use black sand )

Personally I think this would look awesome

I also think 10 glow light tetras would look good in there

Black sand or gravel with a large piece of driftwood off center with minimal plants.

A lace rock and small driftwood setup up with some simple live plants.. 1 small powerhead to give tank and plants some "life" . Good lighting with blue led lighting for night with a timer. Sand not gravel.. I think pool filter sand works great muy fish sift it through gills and seem to like it. Plenty of filtration . Plenty!

2 firemouths
1 spotted rubber lip pleco
A few blue mystery snails
1 gold severum

This is just my opinion, but that seems a bit heavy on bottom dwellers..........

Skip the pleco but it still won't really make a huge dent out of bottom feeders.
