Purchased a frogspawn yesterday from my lfs... little guy hasn't opened up yet should i wait to place him somewhere else.. give him a few days to acclimate?

I placed him in some barnacle at the bottom. Im running aquaticlife t5.

How many bulbs? I'd probably leave him for a little longer

Moving them around a bunch will just make it more angry

I think he was already angry. Noticed some strings coming from it

Those are probably sweeper tentacles, trying to kill any surrounding corals. Have any other corals near in the tank? If there are any near move them or him away, he'll kill them.

Those lights sound good though, give him a few days.

He's my first coral paid 70 bucks for it. It is the reason i started the hobby

Well they usually only send them out when they sense other corals, strange.

$70? Is he aussie or a large colony? That's a pretty high price

How about size of tank and type lighting and watts of each bulb. Alot of your LPS corals like hammers and frogspawn should be off the substrate as the salt grains will get in the polyps and irratate (SP) the heads, I keep mine in the top third of the tank.

He has three bulbs on it when open they make up the size of a baseball. I have a 55g collum. My lights are 4x 39 ho t5's
