Leporinus...seriously?

OK...I'm new at this, but two leporinus swimming side by side like their fins are glued together and their mouths wide open and flicking their tails together...are they mating?

I thought Leporinus did not breed in aquariums...but maybe mating does not mean successful mating.

Could someone shed some light?

sounds more like squaring off in a duel to me. my scissor tail rasboras do something very similar sounding
