Male or female?

Hello everyone,

Was hoping someone can be kind enough to help me determine if this little guy is female or male. Thanks for the help.

If you look at the end of the dorsal fins, the male have more a exaggerated pointed end and the femal is more rounded. Plus the dorsal line of the fins on the male are more vertical.
See these 2 picture of 2 diferent type ( blue is a male and grey a femal) they are cichilds african, i think your fish too

The second one, It is a jack dempsey ? Im not sure but, male Jack Dempseys grow long, pointed dorsal and anal fins that have a red color lining the edges. They have a round black spot in the center of their body and toward their tail, but some time they dont. Males are also larger than females and will or can develop a hump on the cranium after they are a few years old. Females generally have smaller fins than the male and lack the black spots characteristic to the male. The second pic you show me im not sure but it have all caracteristic of a male

If you have 2 of the species its should be easier to do the diference

I could be wrong but the first pic looks like a female. And "the other one" pic looks like a male. Hope I'm right bro

The best way I've found to sex them is the spangles on the sides of the head.

Really?? That's Kool. What should I be looking for? Sry I'm dumb lol

In your avatar pic....you can see the blue run down the side of the face and under the gills. This is a female trait. The males will have little to no spangles on the face with them stopping right under the eyes. Your first pic above is a male and second is a female.

They will almost turn from little dots at the top of the head to bigger blotches towards the bottom of the jaw line on females.

Thanks you guys. This info had been very useful . I'm excited now because I have my pair. But the male is still very young.

Keep in mind just becuse you have a male and female doesn't mean they'll spawn. When attempting to obtain a pair it's normal practice to get 6-7 fish and let them choose their mate, because just like people not every man gets along with every woman.
