I added a new plant today. I'm not exactly sure what species it is. I think it may be ludwigia cuba or hygro tiger. That's the best picture I could get of it with my phone. The HC is starting to get thick in its corner. I might split some of it up so it spreads out faster.
Added another new plant today: Downoi (pogostemon helfiri)!
They are pretty small now but hopefully I can get them to get pretty big. The crowns are about the size of a quarter now. For fertilizers, I got tired of measuring out dry ferts weekly so now I am doing daily doses. I have pre-made liquid bottles that I just squirt some out of every morning.
The panduros spawned AGAIN. I am 100% sure that they are a pair now. I separated the eggs and put them in my HOB breeder box (still on the driftwood) to keep them safe from the angels. I will probably put some peat moss in there to prevent fungus.
Update on the panduro spawn: I have wigglers! About half of the eggs got fungus on them, but the other half have little tails coming out of them and are wiggling!
It's been a while since I have updated this. I will try to post some updated pictures in a few days. The Hygro sp. Tiger has grown a ton and is starting to take over, so I will need to remove that. The right branch of manzanita has a ton of BBA on it, and I can never seem to stop it. The downoi I have in there has gotten bigger, but isn't growing super fast. It has some BBA on it as well. Other than that, the tank has seemed to stay relatively algae free, thanks to 5 ottos that I got . The HC is growing well and starting to spread to the right. The blyxa is growing well too, and last time I looked at it, was algae free. I think my daily fert dosing has really helped.
The HC is pretty happy, but still has some algae in it:
The male panduro loves to get in the way of pictures lol
The blyxa is super happy and I need to get rid of some of the plants
This is my newest issue- BBA all over the driftwood. I think it's because the driftwood is so close to the light, but it will not go away. I upped the co2 and tried to scrub it off a few times with no luck.
The BBA did not go away after the dishwasher. My current plan is to let the driftwood sit and dry for a while (one piece at a time) and then cover the big piece with flame moss again to hopefully prevent future BBA outbreaks.
This BBA is really getting out of control. It's starting to cover the substrate.
Any tips for removal? I think I might dip removable plants in h202, and spot treat the plants (or other things covered with it) that can't be removed.
Yeah, I would like more plants- I am trying to get the HC to grow out even more. The problem is, when it starts to grow, the BBA starts to cover it and keeps it in place. I have a Fluval 306 (206gph) with a spray bar, so the flow is pretty evenly distributed.
Hmmm. I'm not sure then. All I know is, BBA is my least favorite algae to deal with other than cyano. I think once you get more plants in, the algae will recede.
