got a bunch of plants coming in tomorrow. i ordered to many but thats ok im excited about them. ill post pics of them on sunday after my weekly tank cleaning.

i kept adding ammonia but alot less of it. i was over feeding ammonia i think and making it real hard for the nitrate bactira to get a hold in the tank.

Well, so much for that... geez... I really wish that I had known about fishless cycling before I decided to follow the book I bought. Doing the cycle with fish is very stressful. I dont want to risk the lives of my fish.. only have had the buggers for 2 weeks now and I am quite attached.

ok my plants came in and i got way more then i thought. i think i ordered about 24 plants. i figured that would be 24 stems. nope minus the 10 vals which leaves me with 14. of those 14 they came in groups of 5. so 14 times 5 is way to many plants lol.

lol dont mind the algee. im pretty sure its due to not enough co2. which i should have a pressurised system set up by thursday.

well i think i have ich. spotted some salt grian sized white spotes on a couple of neons and 2 of the glo lights today after my water change. so i turned up the heater a little and turned on a bubble wand. from what i have read ich is pretty common in aquariums and im positive the white spots were not there last night so i may have caught it early which will be a good thing i hope

are you able to move the affected fish to a QT tank? Just to err on the side of caution.

i could but with ich im not sure it is needed. with it being a parisite i have to treat all the fish and the tank anyways. so treating 2 tanks just makes it tougher.

Yeah I would treat the whole thing. I had a problem with it a few months back...some fish were fine, and the healthiest fish never got the ich because their immune system was able to fight it off, but the new fish and my oldest fish all died. I did the high temp treatment, lowered the water level and added air....it ran it's course....then you keep the temp up for two weeks after to make sure it's all gone.
The good news is my plants fared well during the ordeal.

And by the way, I don't think that looks like too many plants, looks good. :)

ty happygirl. i didnt panic or stress when i noticed the white dots. i knew i had clean water before the water change and i know i have it after. so i slowly am goign to get the temp up to 84-86. none of my fish are hiding, acting not normal or not eatting so for now everything is good. althou i know that can change pretty fast, i know how to cure ich rom researching it and i just got to do the best i can.

well day 4 1/2 of ich treatment and no deaths. i dont even see any signs of stress. i know its early still but im taking those as good signs for the time being.

in other news i got my co2 bottle filled up and my reg will be here tomorrow. some of my plants are not looking great so hopefully this will really help. i could never get my diy co2 above 10ppm so i hopefully wont have that problem now.

as you can see my male ram is doing great.

that ram is awesome.. wish I had more room in my tank

if you ever get room i recommend doing a little research and picking up one. they not only have amazing color they have amazing personalities and play very nice with others.

well i got my co2 hooked up and promptly went thru all my air in less then 30 mins. had/have a leak somewhere. got a second bottle filled so i can play with it and figure out where the leak is comign from. right now im using an air stone for a diffuser and it sucks but i ordered a spiral glass diffuser and it should be here tuesday i think. i also ordered my dry fert last night. only thing left on my list i think are a python and some sissors if i can figure out where to get them.
