Had her fry... There are bunches of little sets of eyes peering out from all over the place... :)

Well Ian, I tried to count, however, it turned out to be more challenging than I anticipated. I'll keep you updated as I see more sets of eyes. I'm waiting for my cream Molly to have her fry now... That's going to be a lot of sets of eyes looking at me...lol.

Yeah it's a pretty impossible task!!!. I don't even bother now, just a rough guess. I have fry from 4-6wks, I still don't try!!!!.
Sorry, my memory is terrible, are they in the tank on there own???

I just had my first experience of live bearer fry and it's pretty cool to see, so tiny! But they are all over hiding in driftwood/plants. I think they will be ok also because I have platties, neons, corries, rainbow shark, BN pleco, and german rams and none have shown interest or even found the fry. I hope they survive but at the same time I don't want to overcrowd my tank.

My fry are in the tank with the rest of the fish. There are SO many hiding places they aren't in any danger. And they are getting so big so fast!

Ian as soon as they peek out I'll post some pictures. But there's some upsetting news; I found the mama this morning dead... I can't figure out why either... She was fine. Any suggestions? I'll keep trying to take pictures of the babies.

Sorry to hear that. This has happened to me a few times. I don't know if there is an answer. Maybe the birth just took it out of her. Mine were the same, fine just after the birth but death a few hours later. I find it happens more with newer mothers....
Good luck trying to snap the fry!!!!

Well thanks Ian you put my mind a little more T ease... At least I know it's not just me... She was a good mama though. Protected her fry... As for luck with snapping the pics of the fry, thanks! lol I'd like to know how many there are...

Your welcome. It is annoying when you do everything you can for them and then they die for no obvious reason. I have mine in a pretty much bare tank and I still can't count them....haha
Good Luck with the little guys/gals and if you need any more help, just give me a shout. If I can, I will... Take care

Actually Ian, I COULD use your help. What is the easiest way to change out the water in my tank? And you still can't see your fry? With hardly anything in the tank? lol that made me laugh.

I can see them alright, they just don't stay still long enough to count them!!. Do you mean, change it and protect the fry or just change it in general???

I mean change it in general. And I know what you mean by trying to take a picture. I managed to take one for you... But only one is in the picture.

And btw, my other Dalmatian Molly is a tune weird. So I put him in my other tank. For observation. What's going on? Oh and Ian... Thanks for all your help...

I meant my other dalmation Molly is acting weird... Stupid auto correct... Not tune... Ugh.

That fry is pretty big, in the picture anyway!!. I use a siphon and it is connected some garden hose. I change 50% every Saturday. I just chuck the hose out the window and let it drain. I secure the tube between two rocks, so I don't have to sit and watch it drain. I then fill it with a 20ltr water dispenser bottle/container, like the ones you see in an office. I put a soup bowl in the tank and fill the water into that. With the bowl, you can pour the water in a lot quicker. I have sand in my 55, so it stops it all getting stirred up and clouding. I plan on making my own water changer soon. How are you doing your changes at the moment??. How often are you testing your water and do you use strips or a liquid test kit??

Wow there is so much I have to learn. I am gradually changing the water out each day. My friend was the aquatic tech for petco and he is helping me with testing my water. But I need to learn myself and the only way I'm going to do it is to learn myself. So ANY and ALL advice from you is welcome Ian.

Wow I never thought to use a soup bowl to stop the flow from reaching the substrate, thanks I'm gonna give that a try.
