Yes. But usually, the best way to sorority would be to put them since baby's, so they won't be as unknown to each other.
They will still be aggressive, and be nipping tails.
One female will become the “alpha” or dominant female.

How many females would you suggest I get for my one male ? Would one be okay or should I do a higher ratio

Not even one. It doesn't always work well between them. You have to know both of them well.
The female is most likely to kill the male if anything.
