Good luck with the ruby red, that is one fish i won't even try. lol

They eat pods and every lfs I have talked to has told me they cant get them on frozen food. I hate to say it, but that probably wasnt the best buy you could have made. I know, you just swapped out the tang but this guy is gonna have an incredibly hard time in that tank.

Thanks carey! They said they've been feeding it ova and it's been doing fine. I have ova for it and I'm going to get it to eat mysis, hopefully it will be good!

Well said day :( my ruby red was doing great yesterday and eating too! Until this morning when I discovered him in the sand, looked like my diamond goby wanted a midnight snack...lesson learned. Nothing smaller then his big ol mouth.

Sorry about your ruby red, they are such beautiful fish :-(

Just plan out your stock a little better next time and you'll do alot better.
I've been bitten by the "buy it now" bug from time to time and it usually kicks me in the butt. I now carry a complete book of corals and fish in my car so if i see anything I like I can check it out like asap.

Thanks carey :) The "saltwater specialist" at my lfs said that they shouldn't be a problem together and I told him the size of my diamond watchman goby too...just shows they don't care. Looks like I'll only be taking your guy's advice and research from now on

Well, dragonettes are strange little fish. With their constant feeding needs of pods, if not already given to eating prepared foods, can be overbearing. I've read where they eat something every 20 seconds, or something like that. I had one for over a year that started eating mysis on his own, and I was lucky for that and to keep him for as long as I did.
That's why I think they need to stay in the wild. Need a large tank to support a pod population for them to survive and then you don't see them very often. Been there, done that, lesson learned on my end.

Yea he was fine for a while yesterday and the lfs had him on mysis. But he was on the smaller side so my goby wanted him for a snack

So I did some testing today and everything came out fine except for my nitrates. So I used my API kit and Red Sea and both gave the same results. I've done two water changes this week and no change!! But everyone I'm the tank is fine and the corals are all big and open!! What's the deal? Is nitrates something crazily bad? Tests showed about 20 ppm

Thanks 10_gal!! So would you know why my trates would be high but yet my tank look good? That was yesterday's shot. Everything is open today much more!

My trates were high for a little while then they went down and now they stay at under 5

Fish are friends not food!

Yea I'm not too bothered by it because everything is happy in there lol!

And my diamond goby is gone :( not sure why, I mean he did eat half of my red ruby so that could have done him in I guess. Ughh not fun at all

Well now that it's been a couple days, I'm down to my 2 clown fish. What do you guys think I should add into it? I want something cool! And another thing also is my nitrates have been running high (like 20-40) and I have been thinking it's the dreaded bioballs...should I rinse the balls off or should I just take them out and place some lr in that part of the tank? Not sure how to exactly set the second chamber up now. I use the coralife filters in the first one because I don't want to get all fancy with mods on this tank

I'd take the balls out. For a fish, maybe a yellow watchmen or purple fire fish?
