Hello,
I bought a new betta fish about a week ago and I don't know if I am paranoid or not but I feel like one side of the fish has slightly raised scales and maybe the stomach is a tad swollen so I am thinking these might be early stages of dropsy. The reason I say I might be paranoid is because my previous betta had dropsy and didn't recover even with medication and I don't want a repeat of what happened last time.
I really like this new fish and I don't want to lose him because it took me a while to find one I really like. He's been in a bare bottom quarantine tank ever since I got him to prevent introducing possible pathogens into my cycled, planted aquarium. I have not medicated him with anything. Should I start him on medication just to be on the safe side and if so, what kind?
Thank you!
