with knowing now that the blue actinic half part does little to nothing for a fresh water tank, the bulbs come down to around 25 per bulb for the 6700K ones add in another 25 for a ballast. These are also supposed to "live" longer than a normal fluor does, so just may work out. I just have a lot of rust and salt crystals to remove from the hoods.

Although i like the idea of led lights the cost is a bit much atm, too many other things needed yet to bring this up to normal standards.
 
LEDs are pretty slick. Especially if you manage to DIY yourself a good rig. The problem is, most fixtures or LED "bulbs"/"tubes" just don't offer the same amount of light output. Yes, the number of lm/W is exceptional, but the number of watts each of these bulbs/tubes have such low wattage for their size that you're losing out in raw light.
