The tank is fairly new but cycled. Ammonia - 0 NO3 - 10 and NO2 - 0.
ph 7.8 temp 78 I have 2 danios and 2 panda corys. The were fine for about 2.5 - 3 months then suddenly I saw the smaller cory swim to the top and float back down on his back. It scared me so much, but he wasn't dead.

I had done a 30% water change the day before but I still did about a 10% water change that day. Then another 30% the next day. He seemed to act worse when I did a water change so I haven't done anymore since. He's been lethargic and going on his back not moving, he's not eating. He was just getting pushed onto his side or back. He had trouble swimming when he did swim. He was like that for a day or so then I fed peas which i'm not sure if he ate or not. Most of the pea is gone but the others probably had most of it. He has no sign of sickness apart from looking sorry for himself and limp fins.

Now its been just over 4 days and today I woke up and looked at him and I thought he was dead! He was in an odd position and his tail was missing! He moved so I realised he was alive. I can't see whats wrong or why his tail is gone! All the other fish just ignore him. I just fed them flakes and pellets and he has seemed to perk up. Even though he looks worse than ever with no tail. He's scavenging for food and isn't going on his back or side as much. He looks like he gets tired because he has to work harder now. I'm so confused! He does still go upside down, just not as easily and not as much.

All this started the day I bought new gravel as I saw that this gravel was filing away their barbels. It's arriving tomorrow. Is he well enough to even get through the stress of me changing the gravel?

Below are pictures of unhealthy cory Bill before he lost his tail and healthy cory Eric.

What could it be? Any ideas welcome.
