alright well my rotala indicia and my hornwort are touching the surface already and when i use my new hood ill have a lot more light so when am i supposed to prune and what is the proper way to do it so they propegate and i can get more out of them

Just cut them to the length you want and replant the stems. You could chop up the hornwort and all the pieces would just keep on growing. Try to cut the stems at a node.
