Hi, I am getting a new 55gal and the stock includes smaller loaches and some small tetras as dither fish. The substrate will be 3/4 white and 1/4 black, all being of the fine quality. I've had a few ideas about the aquascape, and there is one indefinite part so far: Pillars of rocks. My grandfather gave me lots of rocks that he's used in the past. I vinegar tested and hot-scrubbed each rock. They're all good to go.

I plan on having a large piece of wood (probably around 16in/11in/12). What kind of wood has a darker color and has room in-between to hide away some 3in. diameter pvc pipe (the pvc will be covered in silicon and rolled in some of the substrate) with the help of some java moss covering a large part of the pvc that still shows? Where can I get such wood at a decent price?

Any help is appreciated.
