Sand ok to sit out?

I bought some sand 3 weeks ago and the package has been opened, can it get contaminated sitting out? once it was open I put it in a bucket with plastic wrap over it. Probly a stupid question, but I figure its better to find out than to use it, and get off to the wrong start because the sand got contaminated

As long as it was not around chemicals or pesticides etc, it should be ok. It is not going to get contaminated by the "air". If in doubt just wash it off.
