Can you buy seaweed for a saltwater tank? Is it listed as a plant? I`ve never seen it in the LFS or online but have noticed a few aquariums here in the showoff forum that have what appears to be seaweed in their tank.
If it is real where can I get some and what is the ideal enviroment for it?

Seeweed is a form of algae. Most species of natual seaweed grow way to fast for the aquarium enviorment but as Cindy mentioned there are many types of macro algae that is avaiable for the aquarium.

Be warned some including myself have found some types of macroalgae to have the potental to grow out of control in your tank under the right conditions.

I had a 20 gal tank that would grow grape calurpa by the fist fulls every week.
