I just lost a Cory, and began looking at my other Cory. He appears to have a large white area at the front of his mouth. His barrels are not visible. What should I do?

I can't see his barbels but he can still eat. His mouth opens.

it looks to be cottonmouth, but let's see what others say. my platy is also sick

How long have you had them? I know there are differing opinions on this, but I had corys in a gravel tank and just kept losing them. I noticed they all seemed to have worn barbels. I bought a new tank and tried sand just for something different, and moved my last remaining cory [emoji17] into the sand tank, and he has done really well since. His barbels grew back and he seems happier. Just a thought.

I've had them for about 3 months

Whatever it is it looks bad. What size tank is this and how many cories do you have now? Also it seems unusual for them to be swimming around in the water column so much

It's a 20 gallon and I have 1 Cory right now. I'm adding aquarium salts and an anti fungal medication.
