Hey gang,

I purchased a 12 gallon Fluval Edge, going to make it a FOWLR tank to start, possibly get some mushrooms later on down the line.

My question is on the stand. I really don't like the stands available now, and it doesn't seem like there's a specific one that really sets this tank off.

The tank looks gorgeous but I just don't want it setting on some crappy plain maple\oak stand, want something cool\elegant looking.

I have a few ideas to make it "pop", but not sure it can hold the weight.

Any ideas on if any of these would work for it? Or do you have an alternative suggestion?

The base is just about 12"x12" so anything 13"+W\H should work:

Thoughts?

I have been shopping for 2 stands for the tanks 2 - 12G Edge tanks for a little while the ones they sell are not adequate.

My latest idea is used modern night stands (2 matching in black) made solid out of wood. Thinking of coating with one of hte hydrophobic sprays available, Hydrobead, NeverWet, etc. Previously warped the top of a bookshelf I kept my 6.6G Edge on.

Will check out your links.

Great on all of them, except the Pulaski Pedestal (too much and wrong style for the tank)

The Pier 1 stand is really nice looking best compliment to the tank, goes with most furniture styles, but no storage.

Darby Bogdan best because of storage (but too $$ for my budget and needing 2.)

East india cabinet is nice, would change the knob to a sleek style to bounce off the modern style of tank.

Recently I have seen some aquarium cabinets which are sleek but simple and would have to look them up for the size again to check if they would be right. But If I recall a 10G will work for the 12G Edge.

Presently my 1st 12G is set up on a used heavy but not crazy heavy butcher block stand, square, found at a yard sale for $20. Have never gotten around to it but was going to stain it to go with the furniture.

Other options, small file 2 or 3 drawer height cabinets, metal or wood.

Sofa table, console table.

Here is one of the stands, hadn't got to verify the measurements yet.
