Any tang cichlids known to be agressive?

Most definitely .
Tropheus sp red are pretty aggressive.
They out do my cobalt zebras and even my eye biter is very wary of them.

if u go for a species tank then while yes there are aggressive fish in there, they shouldnt be shredding eachother. cichlids for the most part are aggressive to very aggressive, but its their personalities and colours that attract aquarists.

Indeed, a better question would probably be, Are any tang. cichlids known for not being aggressive.

Well in that case you might want to look at frontosa as they are very gentle cichlids generally and beautiful as well

but frontosa need a huge tank and dont do terribly well with others, so ud pretty much have a lone species tank. but they are very pretty!

There are suitable tank mates for frontosa, calvus for example. But like previously stated the fronts will need a huge tank.
