So, I decided that it would be wrong to call this a 'Man Cave', since the prime inhabitants would be fish. The whole 'Fish Room' thing is a little blah, so, I'm calling it my 'Fish Cave'.

It's pretty bare so far. I'm going to move my tanks over this weekend. I will set up the 150, 40b, and both 20 longs ahead of time and move the fish over. I am consolidating all my tanks to one room in the house, rather than stealing living room, bed room, and kitchen space.

My plans so far are to have the 150, 125, both 40b's, 29, both 20 longs, a 10, and a 5... I will probably be getting 2 more 40 breeders, or 4 20 longs.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to start this thread to track my progress, as well as do updates to all the tanks together, in addition to the other 2 build threads I've got.

Here is the room bare:

And here it is with the 40b and 29 in it so far... as well as some junk that will be moved out:

For those of you who know me, you probably already called it. Aside from some tanks I might experiment with breeding in, they'll all be planted.. except for the 150 or 125 (can't decide yet... ). I'll be dirting them all. Here's the 'essentials' pack I picked up over the weekend:

I'll be updating with more pictures this weekend as we get things moved. Its supposed to be in the 90's, so unless I'm in the hospital from a heat stroke, I'll be moving all the tanks, as well as some other junk to minimize the stress for the major move next weekend.:fish2:

I definitely had some influence here... :)

Following!

Nice I can't wait to see more, I'm still trying to find a airpump so I can start on running lines for my room. Then it's on to building shelves.

I'm trying to figure out where to put the tanks. All the doors make it difficult to put them on the walls. I know my 150 and 125 will go against the long wall on the left, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to build a rack for the middle to put 40 breeders and 20 longs on. I doubt I'm going to plumb in air at this point, as I really don't have that big of a setup, and for the most part, these are all going to be planted tanks, so a sponge would just get in the way. I may do some 20 longs and 10's if I have any luck with breeding. At this point, I only have a few apisto fry, and won't have any more any time soon since I have no female now. I'm going to try and move my 150 over tonight, so maybe I can get a better idea how everything will work once it is in there.

Moving into a new house is one of the most excited things a family can do together... a huge pain in the backside but still very exciting. Good luck and God bless your new home.

Took the 150 over this evening... that was fun! Got the back sprayed on the 40b and 20l, and got the first couple coats on the 150. I'll probably start moving fish over tomorrow, though the 125 will have to wait until Saturday or Sunday before I can move it. I'm also working on getting another 125, so hopefully that'll work out. I forgot the camera, but just imagine what you see above, except the back side of the two tanks painted black haha.

I'm all up for suggestions on sites to order sponge filters from. I really like the ATI Hydro Sponges, but for 6 rated at 40g, it's going to cost me $50. Not bad compared to comparable power filters, but still a little pricey. Anybody got any bulk suppliers to recommend?

I agree. Good luck; hope it's a smooth move! Will be following along to see your progress....I think I may be a bit jealous (of your fish cave, not having to move in 90 degree weather!). ;):)

got my first tank set up tonight. a 29g with layered substrate in the following order (starting on the bottom). Laterite > Potting Soil > PFS > Pea Gravel.

I really like this one! It looks so natural!

angelfishusa.net has some cheap sponge filters, they list them on AB sometimes also even cheaper. I have some of the small ones. I think I paid around $15 plus shipping for 6 of them.

That's called dedication to the hobby :). Now I just need you to convince my wife that we need the same thing in our house, lol.

I love the DW in the 29, can I ask where you picked it up?

I wish I could do this!!! But I'm only sixteen so I havta wait for my own home! Good luck, the tank above looks great!! :)

Very cool man. Definitely following along!

Looks like you are off to a great start! Looking forward to updates. (y)
