I love watching videos to learn. Almost everyone seems to retain information better when a video is provided.

The WAVMA (World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association) has a list of videos on their website that are extremely helpful! Especially to our community where we usually have to handle serious procedures at home.

This video on fish handling has great tips and information that I would've never thought of. For example, he mentions that taking a Koi out of the water and suspending them in the air for only 10 seconds has a measurable immune deficiency affect for up to 30 days! That's crazy! I'll definitely be making sure I keep my fish in water as much as I can now.

All of these videos have great advice and are worth your time to watch!

It is better to simply grab a goldfish with clean chemical free wet hands, than net it out, the net can rip skin off and tear tail fins(y)

I don't think you watched the entirety of the handling videos. He explicitly explains why nets should not be used to hold fish.

He does give great advice in suggestions we keep the fish in water as much as possible. He says that his company has done studies saying that a Koi held out of water for only 10 seconds had measurable immune deficiency for a month! That's amazing.

Just something to think about next time you pull the fish out of the water for anything. You may want to bowl them next time.
