I had a 150 Penguin Filter, but it stopped working, and was smoking hot so I threw it out. I heard carbon is the way to go, but Im not sure. BTW Im in the process of a cycle.

You linked me to the 50 gallon. Was this for a reason?

Ya probably you want double the recommended filtration for your tank. I have a aquaclearc 110 on a 40 gallon

Yup, if you plan to have a decent size stock it's worth it to double up.

It's just my 2 cents worth but a marineland 200 would be another good one to put on a 20 gallon tank. I'm running one on a 29 gallon community tank that's overstocked but it does a great job. Really, the only reason to run carbon would be to remove meds from the water.
