Thanks :( I'm not sure whether I should euthanise the sick ones now to try and prevent the spread. I have new show guppies coming tomorrow and am thinking of risking putting them in with y betta :-/
Can I transfer the disease through the gravel vac etc?

I am not positive about how easily the disease is transferred, but I know it is recommended to heavily sanitize things that come out of the tank.
If it is tb, most sites say the best thing to do is to euthanize any sick ones because the chances of curing it are so slim compared to the chance of other fish (or you) catching it.
However, it would be awful to euthanize some and then realize it was something else.
No matter what, I would NOT put any new fish in there at the moment though.

Right ok thanks for that. I'm nights so will see how they are when I get home. If they look real bad then I'll euthanise them - I agree I wouldn't want to find its something else but how would I have got tb? There's been no new fish in this tank for months

I honestly don't know how you would have gotten it. I would have to read more about it to try and find that.
I have been looking around and I can't really come up with any ideas of anything else that would cause the spinal issues. I would have thought genetics was an option except that it happened to more than 1 species of fish at the same time, so nope.

It is a puzzler - they seem fine one minute then the next bent and unwell. I'm glad it's just stayed with the corys at the minute as I've had the guppies since a few weeks old

You might post this on Planet Catfish as well, they have more Cory experience.

Sometimes Cories come in with internal parasites. Could any fish be bullying them ?
Algae Wafers aren't part of their diet. They may eat them, but a meat based diet is better. Ex.: Catfish pellets, shrimp pellets, frozen food, live black worms.

Thanks they eat catfish pellets with treat of algae wafers. I have no clue what this is and no other fish is bullying them.
Fingers crossed there are no casualties when I get home

I don't know of anything other than tb that would make multiple, unrelated fish get bent spines, lose their color, and die.

The algae wafers r usually shrimp based that is why most any fish will try to nibble on them so those should be fine to feed them.....honestly i have had no real knowledge of TB because i have yet to see it or really hear of a case so to me thats a real long shot<<<<<<<<<not a expert just my opinion.

You are right that its not the most common, but its certainly not unheard of. I still suggest trying to find a lab who will test for it.

I don't think I have anything near me that does that. I'll have to try and find a vet that specialises in aquatics I believe there is one in the town over from mine.
When I researched bent spine tb was the only thing which came up - will have to keep my fingers crossed that my guppy fry get along with my betta and chili rasboras for a bit I think :(

I've been doing some more reading and the symptoms are dry similar to neon tetra disease. Is this possible in corys?

Very true def not unheard of just meant never heard or seen in my area is all. As to lab testing that will prob be expensive but a great idea cause they can tell u EVERYTHING about your water. My opinion is to set up a small hospital tank for a couple weeks and suck all the water out of your tank and let it dry out then just start over but that might not even work if its TB. My LFS sells RO for $1 a gallon so thats all i use would use in my opinion to start over as ive never had problems with water quality<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<just my opinion im not a expert.

Thanks for the input guys. Sadly I don't have a hospital tank so that's a no go.
I've come home to two very poorly tri lined corys and decided to euthanise them they were extremely bent and covered in a white stringy fungus??
Thankfully my remaining tri lined and panda are looking rather healthy as are my ottos and three of my guppies.
One of them has developed an orange growth near his anal fin, does anyone have any idea what this could be??
I'll complete the course of interpret anti internal bacteria for now and place my new guppies in the betta tank (fingers crossed they are small enough to pass for rasboras)

Thats really crazy ive never seen anything like that ill ask my LFS owner if he knows or has heard of this as he owns one of the nicest and most reputable stores in the state and has tons of experience will get back to u some time tomorrow.

Thank you for that I really appreciate it. It all started with my peppered Cory loosing all its colour he perked up for a few days then died, no bent spine. My second peppered got a badly bent spine pretty much overnight then when he does I could see how emaciated he was :(
Then a tri lined up'd and died with no prior symptoms, then a panda Cory only symptom a cloudy eye.
My two tri lined I've euthanised you can see above one more bent spine than the other but he was on his side breathing rapidly so I decided it was kinder for both of them.
I'm hoping this is the last death! :(

I posted a link about neon tetra disease but i think it takes awhile for them to review b4 posting.

Well so far today everyone seems ok bit shy and easily spooked but with there only being one of each left now that's to be expected.
My new guppies are getting on famously with my betta so that is a relief but I am looking forward to getting it ok for them to move into the large tank
