My friend bought a tank from craigslist since he saw how much fun i am having. The problem is he is loading up on livebearers and already has fry. He set up a 10 gallon for the fry with filter media from established tank. He assumed the babies would give off enough waste to grow the bb in the breeder tank. My question is, is there any type of peaceful, herbivore that will be enough of a bioload to grow the bb, but will not pose a threat to the fry?

Fry tanks are best just fry tanks. Just do a couple small water changes a day and it will be all good.

You could try corydoras, that's what I have in my fry/grow out tank, they don't eat fry and are enough to keep the bb alive when there aren't any fry, but most Cory's aren't suitable for a 10g. You could try Pygmy Cory's though
