I used to own several red bellied piranhas from the amazon and two gold piranhas from argentina.I had the gold piranhas in a different tank, they are harder to get and generally don't get as large. The reds were bought all at the same time as babies and all of similar size.I would recommend for one;if your going to keep some together that they be of similar size. Two; that the tank is of adequate size. Three; that you maintain a feeder tank filled with comets. I would get the feeders according to the size of your piranhas. But if they are large it won't be a problem for fish with interlocking teeth.Keeping them well fed is keeping them from attacking the weakest or smaller of the school. They really don't need anything in their tank, but the reds won't destroy plants. They do well with the water temp around 80 deg. They are very hardy fish and a novelty to have.If you have any questions I am the PIRANHA!!!!! Send me a message.
