Yeah, others have recommended that. Seems very permanent. I've had to move my tank once already and would hate to lose the flexibility.

Put slip unions where you will need it and taking it apart is easy. Nothing in there is going to change unless you get something new....but even if you did, it wouldnt be that hard to put it in place.

Love aquaclears to. The only thing I dont like about aquaclears is that is doesnt self-prime. So when the power goes out or if you leave on vacation and the power goes out you have no filter.

I agree here.

I dont under stand why people have this problem I have 2 70s 1 50 and a 30 They all start on their own No different then the emperor 400s and the 280 i use.

Never really understood what a sump was. They look complicated to setup. Could someone explain to me how to set one up and what they do for the tank?
Thanks

Brian

It's really simple a box with holes has a tube that goes to a box behind the tank it goes down and filters through biomedia and then is pumped back into the tank

A sump is juts a big filter & a place to hold everything.

It be be use to hold your equipment, like a protein skimmers, (SW) reaction chambers, (SW) heaters, temps, and whatever you can think of not to have it in the main tank. On top of that it adds more water volume which is a plus. To me it's all the above and just so much less work to do when changing the filters, adding water, etc.

I love all these filters you guys mentioned! Thank you guys a lot! I might have to try a sump one day on my 75g though :)

eshopps wet/dry filter on my 150 gal African cichlid tank...

the size filter I'm running is overkill, but that's the way it should be, makes up keep easy

The best filter in the world :

Fluval FX5 and now the just released FX6

925 G/H
3500 L/H
Whisper quiet

I have 2. Getting a 3rd FX6 soon. All running discus tanks. Ease of use and WC's are incredible.

I wouldn't recommend anything else

Yeah I do agree but the best affordable filter is an aquaclear 110. The fx5/6 is tops if you dont have a budget!
