Also... what clicks should I do for plants? I really like the dwarf hairgrass. Maybe the tissue cultured ones because I can plant the little pods a few inches apart and wait for them to fill in. And aquascaping. I like the manzanita driftwood from manzanita-driftwood.com . And I'd also like to get some rocks from a rock yard.I think it'd be cool to mix the three together, plants, stone, and driftwood. Any suggestions?

Hmmm... I read that corys need smooth substrate, mine isn't smooth. Should I consider a different fish? What other fish (bottom dweller) should I get instead?

How sharp is it? I have a fine gravel with some rounded coarser gravel and was worried about yo-yo loaches and b/n catfish but they seem fine.

How sharp is your substrate? I have yo-yo loaches and bristlenose catfish in fine gravel and was concerned but they seem fine.

It's not smooth but not too sharp... I heard gravel wears down their barbells

Sorry phone app posted twice. I had read that as well and didn't get them. I was told that as long as the gravel doesn't feel sharp or edged (just looking at mine and it is mostly rounded off and fine) they will be ok but decided to go with catfish and loaches. The loaches can dig in up to their eyeballs and no problems so far (touch wood).

What type of loach? Any good for a 27g?

Ammonia went down to 0.25ppm so i dosed back to 4ppm. Nitrite is 1ppm. For my stock I'm getting 1x BN Pleco, 5x Cory Catfish (albino or panda or whatever they have in my lfs :p), and 25x Orange flame tetras. What is a good plan for adding them when my cycle is complete? Maybe add the BN and Cory Catfish in one week, and 5-10 tetras per week after that until its fully stocked? Or should I get all the tetras at once, or the tetras before the pleco and corys?
Any help is appreciated,

about 20 hours after that post, I just tested ammonia and nitrite, ammonia is 2.00ppm, and no nitrite. Not even a hint of purple in nitrite. Let me know if I should be testing nitrAte at this point... At last check it was about 160, the max on the chart, so it wouldn't do any good checking that now.. If needed I could do WCs to get it down to readable levels but do I need to do that? IK i will before I get fish, though.

I decided clown loaches were too big (size: 7-10in, school 3-4) and went with yo-yo loaches (size: <5in, school 4 or more) as they were also meant to eat snails. Also I already had b/n catfish. I have on the app that 3 yo-yos can be kept in a 29g planted tank. Dwarf loach would be a smaller option.

Rarely have I seen kuhli loaches for sale here. I have these as slightly smaller than yo-yo but natural habitat is sand.

Ok thanks for the info.

For plants,I have the marineland double bright led 18-24" adjustable. What type of light is this? Low light? Medium light? Or high light? I hope it's at least medium.

Let us know what you decide :) Sorry, I can't help on lights if anyone else may know? I know mine is led but that is it...

Wait... Just retested tap water and its reading ~7.6 on my low range PH scale. High Range PH reads ~7.4

1ppm ammo this morning. Nitrites still 0ppm. Hoping this afternoon no ammo and no nitrites :) Then i'll do a few WCs to restore some nutrients to the water for the bacteria to grow more and to get the nitrAtes to readable levels.

This afternoon 0.25ppm ammonia and still 0ppm nitrite. Should I add ammonia to 4ppm again?

Lol, my tap water is also around that and I end up testing ph twice :)

On stocking, this is just IMO. I would in general add some to start, then more and add last school 3 months later. The last school is most sensitive fish and also by then I can see how the tank looks for stocking. So say first week might be half top dwellers and all bottom dwellers as your tank will be cycled. I guess cichlid stocking would be different. I know the fishless cycle means you can fully stock straight away but I tend to be cautious as I find a new tank (even cycled) not as established and more trouble prone as one that is 6 months old. Unless you add all at once I find I have to test to check a mini-cycle doesn't occur anyway so I tend to add schools over time whenever I feel particularly up for possible water changes. Would be interesting to see what others do.

Well what do you suggest for for the stock above? With what you said I'd add the pleco and 10 tetras then 3 months later another 10 tetras? Can I add them all at once if I cycle it up to like 6 or 8ppm in 24hrs?

Also, a question. What is the ratio between ammonia and how much nitrite its converted into and same with nitrite -> nitrAte
