no, pfs is usually a tan color with lots of black specks in it... the filters like it more than regular old sand because it doesnt stir up and get in the filter, ruining the impeller. Fish like it better (mainly cichlids) because they can dig around in it and have fun lol...

Well, it's a possibility. My substrate isn't that dark in the first place anyways. I wonder if it would look weird to mix brownish colored small gravel with pfs. what do you guys think?

Random is how it would look IMO.... Just PFS or no PFS IMO, it's your tank and your choice.
