55 gallon tank

I have a 55 gallon tank laying around from before and I wanted to get it up and running again. Once its cycled, I was planning on putting in 20 tetras, 10 guppies and 5 cherry shrimp together. What do you guys think? Is there any other fish I should add? Also, I want this tank to be heavily planted, what lights should I get?

This sounds like a good community. For the tetras, I'd go with neon or glow light tetras. As long as you don't add large fish like angelfish, your shrimp will be fine but the tetras will eat the baby shrimp. Corydoras would be a nice addition to the bottom level.

I was planning on making my own lighting for the tank using high powered LED strips to cut down on the costs, you think I can grow live plants in the tank?

I would say high power led lights are great. And also, if possible, try and get moon lighting lights. They look great and aren't bright but you can still see your fish at night!

I just got the "warm white" I might add more colors later
