background choice

I have wanted a mirror background for my tank for a long while. So I ordered Oceanvision mirrored background. I think it might have been a better (actually much better) idea to have done this when the tank was completely empty..but anyway.... I followed all the instructions and am really disappointed. Using soapy water to allow you to position the vinyl just leaves the glass looking dirty.. Has anyone had luck with this? I want to do my other tank and have the material but am having serious second thoughts..
