I have got a black hairy growth on the tips of my plants, how can I get rid of it and what is it? The plants are about 6 months old and this is the first time I have had it.

the nitrate readings are around 20, the lighting is unchanged that came with the tank a juwel rio 240. :(

Sounds like BBA. I have found that a good steady source of nutrients and higher CO2 levels will reduce it.

are there any specific nutrients to feed, and can you tell me what bba stands for although i could arrange some expletives to suit.

Thank you
