I have a young Red Devil Cichlid with Black on fins & lips.I seen a thread on here where it was normal, but is it normal for the lips to have black on them too. The fish acts totally normal however it seriously worries me.

Thank you for that. Will it go away at some point? I heard it might just be temporary.

From what i know fish colors can get more dzrker or light depending on there mood thus can be diferent in 1 minute. A exemple is that my angelfish can be colpletely light blue and when i feed them 1 minute later they are dark blue with black stripes. If ur fish is still young i believe his colors can change a little bit still but that dark color on the lips will probebly stay that are just his markings

Sounds reasonable,I was just concerned. This is actually my 3rd go round with this breed. My first attempt at raising one of these didn’t turn out so well. The second one was all orange,he lived for a couple years, but got a tumor and didn’t survive.Naturaly I’m kinda nervous about loosing this one.

Yes i understand u. As long as it isent thicker or anything than thats fine just his color markings
