Dwarf gouramis?

Can I get just one or do they need schools? Or a group of females?

Well depending on the size of the tank, mostly one dwarf gourami. Females usually aren't found for sale for aesthetic reasons.

I have two in a 20L. Originally I had three but one got bullied. I think with a large enough tank you can have two.

I had two in a 70gallon heavily planted and one still bullied the other to death. I wouldn't recommend any more than one male per tank.

You could get a male/female pair in the tank if you wanted to. I wouldn't expect any aggression in such a large tank. I personally find the females very pretty but they aren't for everyone.

If you just want 1, feel free to just get 1. They are territorial fish, not schoolers so they do not need friends to be happy.

I have never had more than one last too long in my 125. Same thing for Pearl Leeri Gourami too for some strange reason.
