Giant guppies

Ok I was at the store today in the first section when this lady told me about raising giant guppies. She said that her husband takes the guppies converts them to Saltwater for around a month then puts then back in freshwater. Of course it took time to acclimate them. But after he put them back into freshwater they grew larger than normal. Around 3 inches. Has anybody heard of this?

I didn't either. They sold them to a local fish store, so I'm going to call and double check
