Do gourami eat live plants or is he playing in it

My dwarf gourami loves plants, but not eating them! Plants make them feel more comfortable so it's not strange for them to hang out in the most densely planted part of the tank. If he nibbles at the plant he's probably just picking some algae off the leaves, to my knowledge they don't eat any plants.
