My name is Christen and I have a 30 gallon tank. I have had my tank for 3 years and I have had small fish - mollies, platies, small tiger barbs and ghost shrimp. I have the same fish I had when I got the tank, but the numbers have dwindled from about 15 to 4! My sister has a tank of Jack Dempseys which just had over 200 (yikes) babies. She is trying to get rid of them and wants to give me some. How can I handle this? Do I just take the babies and then as they grow older move them or my other fish into another tank? Any advice? She wants to get rid of the fish like yesterday, and I would like to have more fish, but I am just not sure how to make the "update" to the tank.

The JD's need more room and will eventually eat all the fish you currently have. You will definitely need a bigger tank in the future, at least a 55.

Good luck!

Agreed with what was said in post #2. You can keep the JD juvies in your tank but your other fish and eventually the JDs will pick each other off. You will need a larger tank. You might be able to keep 2 or 3 males or females in a 55gal as they grow slow.
