I have a 29 gallon tank that only has one African Cichlid in it right now. I'd like to keep more, but this one has killed any that I try putting in. It's a male and very aggressive. Does anyone have any tips about how to add fish to a tank like this? It's frustrating me and the tank is so empty seeming.

what type of african is it? alot of africans are too large for a 29 gallon and maybe thats why you experiencing aggression.

you could always return the fish and get something else.

Can you upgrade the tank? I agree, if it's a mbuna, the aggression is mainly due to a lack of territory so the whole tank is claimed as his territory. If you can get a 4' tank (55g) and add rocks and hiding places, that would help a lot.
